Our Story
The Beginning
In September 1997, a young girl named Wei-Ting Lin immigrated from Taiwan to Vancouver, B.C., Canada, at the age of 6, to start a better life with her family. When she graduated from Elgin Park Secondary, she went onto study Criminology and English at Simon Fraser University. What inspired her to start baking at home was her mother, who was always in the kitchen. During times of stress, she baked for her friends and for her dorm-mates, which led to a high demand for her baked goods.
The Shop
Due to popular demand, Wei-Ting started her small business in 2016, and "A Teaspoon Of Sugar" was born. After a year of constant financial struggle, news of her baked goods had finally started to spread like wildfire through the community.
"A Teaspoon of Sugar" prides itself on baking from 100% locally sourced, organic ingredients. Wei-Ting has always felt like she wanted to give back to the community that helped her business thrive so much. It's vision is for a healthier, happier world, with the emphasis on No Food Waste and the community. She hopes to connect her vision with the world and continue to support trends of sustainable, farm-to-table-styled food sources.
